Only since 1977, visitors have been permitted to cross the Rohtang Pass to Keylong in Lahaul . At a distance of 177 km Manali, this is a Tibetan region, quite unlike the Kullu valley. The Rohtang Pass has the same gateway as is the Zoji La Pass between Kashmir and Ladakh.
